Desserts / Drinks
Using the America Mix Red, White and Blue Skittles® candies, let's start take a look at how we can take a simple milkshake and turn it into a fun frozen treat that the whole family can enjoy!
1 pint Vanilla Bean Ice Cream
2 cups Milk
1/3 cup Freeze-dried Skittles® America Mix (Crushed) - Save 1tbsp for garnish
2 tbsp Simple Syrup
1 cup Water
1 cup Sugar
Skittles® Wild Berry
Other Skittles® to Use
Separate the Skittles® by color and then crush each color in a separate ziplock bag. Feel free to mix colors as desired to modify the drink color and flavor. Just make sure that you have 1/3 cup less the garish of the color or colors you want to use in the milkshake.
Blend milk, simple syrup and ice cream in blender for 20 to 30 seconds or until it reaches a nice smooth consistency.
Add the Skittles® less the 1 tbsp for garnish and do 3-5 quick pulse blends to mix it all up.
Pour into glasses and then garnish with remaining crushed Skittles®.
Simple Syrup Instructions
Heat the water and sugar in a small pot on medium-high. Frequently stir until you achieve a nice simmer and the sugar is completely dissolved. Cool down to room temperature before using.
Store remaining syrup in an air tight container for up to 3 weeks in the refridgerator.
Warning: Don’t leave your crushed Skittles® candies out in the open too long. As you leave them out, the freeze-dried Skittles® will absorb moisture from the air and can turn into a solid sticky clump. A great way to store any extra crushed Skittles® is in a small mason jar and lid.
